Baby Photography – Documenting The First Year

The days are long, but the years are short.  We’ve all heard the saying, and it rings especially true for parents.  Baby photography is special because it helps record all of the wonderful firsts during the transition from newborn baby to toddler.

Why I Love Baby Photography

I have 2 babies of my own, okay they aren’t babies anymore but it seems like it was just yesterday that they were.  I look back to all the photos that I took of them during that first year and it helps me to remember all those sweet stages.  Sleeping all day (sometimes never sleeping at night), the first giggle and grabbing of my hand, holding their head up, sitting up, crawling, standing, and then walking – all of these in the first year they are born!

Building a Relationship

After working with a family and baby for newborn photos, I always feel a close bond to them.  Often, newborn photography offers challenges of helping the baby to be comfortable and sleep for their session.  Gas, colic and outside factors can sometimes cause this to take a little longer than expected.  In the end, all newborns eventually go to sleep and we take the photos needed.  I’ve had parents tell me that they were able to learn from watching me with babies, or complement me on my patience and continue to book more milestone sessions with me.  I LOVE seeing the babies grow and change.  It’s a honor to help tell their story through photography.
