October, Fall, & Eckerts Pumpkin Pictures!

If you live near St. Louis or in the suburbs then you know that with Fall and October comes the annual family trip to the apple and pumpkin farms.  Every year my husband and I take our two boys for their annual Eckerts pumpkin pictures.  We start with a tractor ride out to the apple orchards.  The boys enjoy the snack as we each an apple each and fill a bag to take home with us.  Then we hop back on the tractor and take a ride down to the pumpkin patch.

The boys enjoy running around and searching for their own perfect pumpkins.  The hubby and I watch them run around like mad men as they call out this one, or that one!  We have two criteria for their pumpkins.  First, they must be able to lift the pumpkin (this helps keep the cost down – after all we are paying by the pound).  Second, they must be completely in tact (seems obvious, but our three year old likes the pumpkins that are spewing seeds).

The weather was beautiful, it has been an unseasonable warm fall here in St. Louis.  Although it was overcast, the temperature was great.  Normally we are more bundled up to pick our pumpkins!

The boys worked up quite an appetite after running around the farm.  No trip to Eckerts is complete without some corn dogs and turkey legs.  They were so crowded that we ended up eating in the parking lot.  It was so fun that we might incorporate tailgating in our yearly pumpkin trip from now on (excuse the messy car)!

If you haven’t been to Eckerts yet this year, be sure to get out there.  If you want photos of your family picking out their pumpkins give me a call!  I would love to document this special time for your family also.
