What do you think of my selfie? Creativity and vision are important in the world of photography. To keep my creative juices flowing I have decided to participate in a personal project along with some fellow photographers called P52. Each week we have category, and have one week to submit a photograph that falls within it.
For week 1, the category was self or selfie. It is our assignment to take a self-portrait. As a photographer, I am always more comfortable behind the camera, rather than in front of it. This was a great exercise in communication. I knew visually what I wanted to accomplish, but not having a “second set of eyes” to help me with directions proved challenging. Throw in the occasional photo bombs from my 2-year-old, and it proved to be quite a feat!
Just about every photo I have of myself depicts me with a giant smile, which for the most part is my personality. With this assignment I wanted to dive deeper into a more pensive portrait showing another side of myself.
I look forward to sharing more from this project throughout the year. If you would like to see some more photographer “selfies” from our P52 group, follow this link to Kristy Wolfe’s Website.
